Workshop: From Biowaste to Green Steel: Catalytic Pyrolysis and Industrial Decarbonisation

From Biowaste to Green Steel:
Catalytic Pyrolysis and Industrial Decarbonisation

Organized by: Contactica, Politecnico di Torino y RE-CORD

About the event

As the H2STEEL project reaches its final phase, this webinar will present the key technological advances supporting the decarbonisation of the steel manufacturing sector. The session will explore how catalytic methane pyrolysis can simultaneously produce green hydrogen and recover solid carbon from biomethane, enabling circular pathways for low-carbon steel production.

Speakers will share insights on biowaste pyrolysis, catalyst development, chemical leaching processes, and results from the catalytic methane pyrolysis proof-of-concept system. This final webinar offers a comprehensive overview of H2STEEL’s integrated approach — linking waste valorisation, circular hydrogen production, and climate-neutral metallurgy in Europe.

Why Attend

This webinar will showcase the latest technological advancements driving the decarbonisation of the steel sector, with a focus on catalytic methane pyrolysis and circular hydrogen production. Participants will gain valuable insights from leading experts on biowaste valorisation, catalyst development, and innovative pathways towards climate-neutral metallurgy.

Attendees will also have the opportunity to engage directly with project partners, ask questions, and explore how these solutions can support the transition to low-carbon industrial processes.
